Here is the group photo of some of my socks that I said I was going to post. My preferences for knitting my socks is two at a time on the magic loop. I usually use my Knit Picks fixed circular needle 47" Size 1(2.25mm) for the main body of the sock, and then I switch to size 0(2.00mm) Double Point Needles for the ribbing.
I find the "Judy's Magic Cast-on for toe-up socks" works good for me and is easy to do without looking up the pattern every time I cast-on.
Before I even start anything I check out my skeins for color repeats (I always buy two skeins when shopping sock yarn). Once I am sure of the pattern repeats are the same, then I wind the yarn into center pull balls. Then I find the beginning of the color pattern repeat in the yarn, and then cast-on for my next pair of socks.
By all means this is only the way I like to knit socks, not meaning it is the way anyone else needs to knit theirs.
