Maurice Sendak has died.

I was very saddened to learn that Maurice Sendak - a marvelous author/illustrator - has died. I have been a great admirer of his various works [books, set designs, etc.] ever since I was quite young. I always thought his critters, etc. would make great knitted toys. May he be at peace and Blessed.

There was a teriffic two part interview with him a few months ago...might be on youtube...
...and a beautiful exhibit at the Jewish Museum in San Francisco...which I think is touring...

Wow...considering that I'm 53 and loved "Where the Wild Things Are" and other books when I was in 1st grade, I hadn't even realized he was still alive. He really left a mark on my childhood.

His appearances in the past year on The Colbert Report have been fantastic. (Including a tribute last night.) I wonder if those are on youtube.
Not to be missed is his interview on Fresh Air with Terry Gross... possibly available as a podcast download. I'm wistful just thinking about it.

That's good to know...I don't get to watch Colbert on regular television as my sister watches it most often in our house.

Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
