Yarn Down Under?

It's been a while since I've posted - I want to write up a longer update of my journey post-tennis elbow surgery, but for now suffice to say that I'm back to knitting and even, nine long months later, back in the pottery studio.

Now, however, I'm very happy to report that The Best Beloved and I have purchased our round trip tickets to Australia! We leave at the end of October and will be based in Ballarat, outside of Melbourne with our friend, and plan on exploring Melbourne, Ballarat, Daylesford and even flying over to Tasmania.

If anyone has any suggestions about yarn, yarn stores, sheep farms...I'd love to hear them as we begin to plan our itinerary!

Very jealous. I hope you have a great time and share updates. Glad to know that you are all recovered from the surgery as well.

Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Hello Jonathon,

I live in Sydney so don't know about the yarn shops around Melbourne except Morris & Sons who are in central Melbourne. At Bendigo not far from Ballarat are the Bendigo Woollen Mills http://bendigowoollenmills.com.au/ which have a mill shop.
You are going to some nice places especially Daylesford, my partner and I visited those towns for a holiday a few summers ago and we enjoyed it very much.

We loved Tasmania when we went for the first time about six years ago, in fact I wanted to move there. As it is a small state by Australian standards, it is easy to see a much of it in a week.

Have a wonderful time.
