EZ BSJ School House Press Pattern #5

Hi guys,

What a week. Just got back friday from Memphis. At 2:20 am tuesday morning the call came - my first grandchild was on his way and about to be born. Wife and I rushed out of the house and headed out of STL down highway 55 to Memphis (4 hours). Missed the birth by 9 miles. Mother and grandson are doing well and my son is as proud as can be. Who can blame him.

Yesterday after chores, I went through my stash and decided to make Elizabeth Zimmermann's (Aug 9, 1910 - Nov 30, 1999) Baby Surprise Jacket - School House Press Pattern #5. I have made this in adult sizes but never in the child ones. I picked a variegated Rio de la Plata kettle Dyed 100% pure new wool from Uruguay and a maroon 100% alpaca prima from Plymouth Yarns. I started it yesterday and hope to finish and mail this week to Bennett Winn. HE should look great in it and it should work up fast. I am using #6 - 24" circular needles and just completed row 39 of 97 if you are familiar with the pattern.

I'll post a picture of the completed jacket when I am done.

Congratulations!!!! A baby to knit for, what fun! I'm so jealous. It's truly funny, though, that you gave us all the details on the yarn and pattern but not the kids name, lol. Knitters. You have to show us a pict of him, whatever his name is, in his new jacket. He will, of course, need head gear to match, and mittens, and socks, and a smart scarf and .......
