I am on the hunt for a men's robe pattern. I recall one was posted on here a long time ago but not sure who the poster was. Does anyone know of robe pattern for men?
Never heard of one, but I think I'd be interested in that as well
I've worked with some great chenille yarn in the past that would have made a perfect robe now that I think of it. JRob
I think a basic kimono shape would probably be best, and there are a couple of books about knitting kimono shaped garments.
...just be careful about weight. The robe could become surprisingly heavy.
I've learned that just sewing terry cloth lined robes.
I agree about the weight of the garment. I was thinking of making it one of those projects that last a few years. I may make it out of sock yarn, which might keep it lighter. I am still doing my research. I have also made a couple robes from terry cloth and it does indeed get a bit weighty. I'll check into the kimonos.
Because of the wight issue, something like Sirdar Snowflake comes to my mind. I think that it is only available in chunky which would make for a quick knit. I think Plymouth has a comparable yarn also...Heaven maybe? Not positive on the name. I have not knit with Snowflake in a long time but and it's geared towards babies and infants because it is so soft, but there are colors that are defiantly NOT baby colors.
Thanks for the insight, Shawn. I'll give it look-see.
I found a pattern that might fit your needs.
It is called "Wrap in Roses" from Red Heart.
Omit the embellishment, and it is a basic "bathrobe"
Hope it helps
I can email it if needed
Was interested in seeing what Stephen found and could not find that pattern but did run across this...they call it a coat I call it a bath robe LOL. http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/wrap-coat
here it is
Thanks for the pattern. I like it a lot. I like a short robe too, so I would only need to add a bit at the bottom.
I have also seen a pattern for a "Monk's" or "Wizard 's" hooded robe. It was full length and used lots of yarn (2 or 3 thousand yards+).
I'll can to search for it again if anyone is interested.
If I recall it was a men's kimono
