I'd say whatever you make of it, it will look nice. Maybe you could steek it to bring it to size?

a "steek" is cutting your knitting. It's often used to cut the front open for a zipper or button band, or slits to knit sleeves into.
The safest way is to machine or hand sew a line of stitching on each side of where you want to cut. The principal can be used to re-shape a shoulder, or take in the sides, or alter a neckline.
I'm teaching classes on exactly that at Madrona next spring.

I had never heard of this before now. I'm often surprised of the techniques I don't know considering all the years I've been a needleworker.
