You are ruggtm it IS a great article. I' especially impressed the man who was released and working construction is still knitting. Those women made a real impact.
Terry, I'm glad you liked it! I have been knitting, but haven't finished much these days, What I have been doing it a lot of reading, so it helps me to feel as though I'm still sharing when I share these articles. Yes, they've done something really great. We need more people in the world making a real impact.
What a wonderful thing she did for those men. I'm surprised they let the men have the needles, or maybe they could just use them during the class.
Yes Mark, I agree.. wonderful! Yes they probably only allow them to have them during class. I'm sure that is the safest!
I often toyed with the idea of teaching creative writing in a prison setting. I'm not sure at age 60 that I would be able to handle the tension that is undoubtedly oozing from the walls in such places. I still think it would be interesting to read their thoughts and give them a way to escape a bit, much like the intensity of knitting seems to do for them.
Mark, I'm not sure if I could do it, but I definitely admire them. We all have our gifts and callings, not sure if that is mine or for that matter what is, but Bravo to them anyhow!
