My First Sweater!

OK Guys - I did it! this sweater pattern was from Vogue Knitting - I think 2 issues ago - it's done in Trendsetter Yosemite - and I'm very proud of it - the only problem I really had I talked about before (the SSK/K2TOG issue) - I am going to do the same thing again in a different yarn (just some wool yarn I got at my LYS) and see if I can do it correctly this time. The second sweater is all one color, so it'll be less forgiving.

I was very pleased when I finished this - just wanted to share it with all of you -

Congratulations! You did it and what a lovely job you made of it. Give yourself a pat on the back because it is a beautiful sweater.

Very nice! Is it done in stockinette stitch? I like the colour variegation. I agree: you should be proud of it!

My knitting is totally tubular!

It's mostly stockinette stitch, with a 2x2 rib around the base and a edging around the front of the piece of knit 2 rows, purl 2 rows... it's a pretty simple pattern, but I still managed to botch it up a little -

I did also learn that when assembling a sweater (which I understand you don't do because you knit in the round) you should use a different kind of yarn - I used a very similar color but a thinner yarn - it makes it easier to see if you have to rip it out (which I did when I joined one arm inside out) haha... and also the thinner yarn keeps the seams from being so bulky :)

I guess it's all a learning process :)

I always assemble (or seam) knitted projects using the same yarn I use to knit the item. And it turns out very nicely. I'm always complimented on my finishing. I guess I had a good teacher when I learned to assemble and seam many years ago. So don't be hard on yourself. You did fine!

Is this sweater for yourself or a gift? Can we see it modeled? Congrats! It's lovely.

working on getting a photo of it on someone... it's for a woman so I am hoping to have a friend model it for me :)

maybe this week :)

It's for my boss (who is ALWAYS cold) - she had a gift certificate for a LYS that I had never been to.... went there, bought the yarn and got it for her - it's a ladies cardigan - and I'm sure she'll wear it - it's not a "bundle up and be warm" type of sweater... more like something you'd wear on the way to work until it's warmer, then take it off while at work... it'll be great for her because she's running around all the time early in the morning.

I started a second one Saturday - for my mom in Indiana... it'll hopefully work up quickly...
