How about a Secret Knitting Santa?

RainCityRick's picture

The idea of a knitting buddy got me thinking (a very dangerous thing!)

Here's an idea. What if we exchanged names and everyone sent another person a $15.00 (USD appropriately converted of course) knitting item (yarn, needles, notions, etc.) as sort of a holiday gift exchange?

I'd be willing to coordinate. Just send me an email with the following information with your name and address. Also, let me know if you'd be willing to send your parcel out of the country.

I'll match folks up (staying within the country when possible) and send you the address of your Secret Santa. You decide what your gift will be, bundle it up and ship it off to your happy recipient.

Anyone game?

I am! I think it sounds like a lot of fun! Obviously, I'll have to send mine out of the country!

Count me in! I think it a great idea. Why, who the heck wouldn't want Texas wool???

Aaron, if I get you you can bet I won't be sending anything knitting related and that goes for you also, Lars. (wink)

I arrived home this arvo to find a package waiting on my doorstep from my Secret Santa (you know who you are!). I was so excited I opened it up to find 3 packages all wrapped up in festive holiday paper. I am going to exert all the self-control I have and not open them until xmas morning! Now, Santy, I saw the amount you paid for postage I bet you fainted when the postal clerk told you the price of the postage to NZ! So, that exorbitant postal cost was the perfect excuse for me to send you a holiday gift, too. Watch the mail as it should arrive by the 19 December!

It's xmas day here (note the international dateline!) and I've discovered that my Secret Santa (AMBush) was very naughty this year - he way over-spent the $ limit on me! Not only did he send me 2 books that were on my wish list, but he sent 2 parcels of the most gorgeous and soft knitting wools! They are absolutely wonderful and as soon as I finish the current project, I intend to get stuck into them straightaway! Their size is quite thick and I've never knitted with anything that size so it's going to be a fun adventure! Thanks, Santa (aka Aaron)! And, thanks to you, Rick, for organising this special holiday cheer!

Jesse, you are very welcome! I'm so glad you liked the yarn, and the books! As for the "limit" well, like rules, I tend to NOT follow them and I'm so glad didn't!

My Secret Santa, WMarksII (not so secret now), sent me the One Skein Knitter's Tote, and it's quite the handy little bag! I've stocked it with everything I need for the purple and gold yarmulke (sp?) that I need to finish by New Year's Eve, and the next pair of socks I do will immediately take it's place. Thanks so much Dru!

So, what did everyone else get?
