RIP Socrates 5/26/06 - 12/18/06

I am missing my companion Socrates so much right now. He was a good cat and a great traveling companion. I received a secret santa package addressed to myself and Socrates. Inside was a gift for myself and a bag of kitty treats. Broke my heart.

Hey Mason,

(Got it right this time!). I'm so sorry to hear about Socrates. What a great name, and from the pic, what a beautiful cat. I think loosing pets is a particular kind of pain. I've known it, and I empathize with you.

It's never fun, or easy, to lose a companion; and words are so inadaquate. when you finish that scarf - maybe you can make yourself one as a memorial to Socrates. It won't be the same - but at least something tangible to have with you as a reminder.

I was never a cat person growing up, but as a young adult I decided to give it a try, and got a kitten from the humane society. He had a good long life, and I loved that little guy right up to the very end. His name was Sebastian (black tuxedo type DSH). He died of old age and is buried out in my backyard under my favorite rosebush.

My dear Mason,

I really feel for you. I had to put my cat, Precious, down on 9/18/06. I found a website called petloss.com the day before she passed. I've found it very helpful. Be sure to check out the information on the Monday Night Candle Lighting and pop into the chat room.
