Cabled Alpaca Gloves

Aaronknits's picture

These are the men's cabled glove pattern from the little hardcover Vogue Knitting: Mittens & Gloves book. I used Plymouth Indicieta Alpaca (worsted).

I started working on the first pair of these way before the Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck. I had one of the gloves completed at that time. THe first pair ended up being given to the hubby and I started the second pair with a different style cable up the back for myself.

I don't know whether it's the yarn or the lighting or both, but the cables don't show too well in the pictures. I do apologize for that.

Wow. I'm going to have to try gloves. These are incredibly handsome looking gloves and I bet the alpaca next to the skin is dreamy.

These look fantastic! I'm going to have to go out and find that book, because I definitely want a pair of those. Are there other good/usable patterns in the book? Great job. They look beautiful.

Absolutely! Some of the mitten patterns are gorgeous!

They are beautiful! I really like the colour and the simple cable design is just right. Thanks for the tip on the book - I'll check it out now. I would like to knit gloves but haven't found the nerve to try it yet. Thanks for the inspiration!

My knitting is totally tubular!

Really beautiful, Aaron. Did you use a cable needle or just your fingers? The cabling shows up great on my screen.
Kudos to you!

I bought a set of the shortest dpns in the same size and used one of those. The short dpns were also handy when doing the fingers.

I haven't dared knitting gloves yet...

They're kind of addicting. Like socks, which I'm about to make another pair of. My first ones were fun! I suppose I should take a picture of them.

Wow, these are great, Aaron! I'm just starting a pair of gloves using Mega Boots Stretch sock yarn and the progressive gloves pattern from Interweave Knits (Winter 2003). I hope they come out as nice as yours. Well done.
