Book Recommendations

OK. I know this is a knitting sight, but I'm hoping someone out there has some suggestions on good books for dyeing. Any recommendations?

There's a classic on dying out there by Elizabeth Kuebler Ross, but the exact title escapes me.

The exact title is "On Death and Dying" or, you can get the CD by Turtle Creek Chorale (Dallas, TX) called "When we no longer touch." which is an incredible choral work that follows the same stages....following the life of a man upon the death of his lover.

"dyeing" not "death and dying" *grin*

I checked out a good book on dyeing for knitters called, ironically, "Dyeing to Knit." I don't have the author, but you could probably find it on Amazon or Alibris.com.

I have A Dyer's Companion (one of those spiral bound stand up on your desk jobbies.) I wouldn't say it's great enough to be your #1 dying resource (seeing the dying episode of knitty gritty plus that book and reading blogs and such has been enough for me thus far,) but at the same time, there is gobs of really good information in it.

The Twisted Sisters Sock Workbook is a great book on dyeing. Primarily focused on creating hand-dyed sock yarns, but tons of great information on tools and techniques that aren't sock-specific.

Yes. I did mean dyeing as in adding color to something. HA...not dying as in death.

There are a number of tutorials online regarding using acid dyes (for protein fibers - ie: animals fibers and some synthetics). They are pretty complete. Knitty has one or two; and a lot of other sites as well.
