Any tips for making bobbins without buying expensive plastic things?


If you mean the ones for small amounts of wool when doing colour work, they can be made out of stiff card to the same shape as the expensive ones.

I think it's easier to tie yarn butterflies. I find they don't tangle as quickly and there's no "equipment" needed. I always use one when doing a long tail cast-on.

I agree with both methods already suggested, you can also use empty plastic containers and cut the plastic to the shape required

Have been knitting for years. I knit continually then will try another craft, but will return to the needles.

Clothes pins have worked well for me.
