thats what happens when you rush

I made a beautiful sock for my new found friend for Xmas. He is going back to the states with his partner next week and we will meet for coffee in the West End of London to say farewell.

I have little time so got down to making the second one, I was so concerned that I would not finish I made the wrong size. Half way through I realized and so had to undo it and start again. I knew that bottle of beer before casting on was a potential disaster!!

I have decided that making one sock well for someone you care for with the promise of the second in the post is better than having a pair that dont match and having to give a shop bought present.

So tonight sock 2 is begun, in love, but without beer.

Words of wisdom, LOL. I had to frog out about 3 inches of the alpaca sweater I'm making to wear on Xmas day after having one rum and coke and making one silly little mistake that stood out like a sore thumb on the stockinette background.

I only have one hard 'n fast rule while knitting;

whiskey & cables never mix.

Otherwise, go for it. And I agree - give one finished sock with the promise of the mate to come. Anticipation is a lovely thing.

Thanks for the words of pearly wisdom.

I thought I would be bored knitting the second sock a second time, but no, its just as great as the first time.
