two questions

Does anyone have a pattern they like for a yarmulke?  I am a decent dpns knitter, and would like something fairly simple (who wants a cable knit yarmukle?!) Thanks for any advice.

Second Question: Who has the bulkiest yarn?  I like Rowan's Big yarn, and have on some projects doubled or tripled it, but does anyone know or like an even larger gauge?

Go to and segue over to their blog.  Lisa, the owner, has knitted kippot and their might be a pattern.  If not write to her and see if she is selling it as one of the store patterns.

Lisa's pattern is for a crocheted kippot, I couldn't find a knitted pattern on her blog. But, Knitted Pattern Central has a pattern for a knitted yarmulka and two patterns for crochet versions. Yarns recommended are cotton, one done in linen. Have fun and hope you put up a picture of one soon.

Here are a few more links to patterns:

The Knit With Yarn Shop has some patterns, but they don't seem to be available on-line.  Here's a link to the photo and their phone number so you can give them a call: 215-247-YARN.

Here's one from the knitlist:

Finally, Joanne Seiff had a pattern in Interweave Knits in the Spring 2002 issue.  Interweave appears to be out of back issues, but if you can find it at your local yarn store, it has an easy pattern for solid colored yarmulkas.
