Well, I haven't written in a while, but that doesn't mean my needles haven't been clacking. Or clicking. Or whatever it is needles do. Also, my sewing machine has been keeping up.
First, this is a shawl I made for my mom for Christmas. Also the rose. Both fairly easy patterns but turned out well, I think. This was my first lace work, and I'd have to say I kinda got hooked (well, wrong pun, but you know what I mean).
I also made a bunch of other Christmas presents, like some fingerless gloves for my "too cool for real gloves" sister, some cat beds for my brother and girlfriend, and a couple of hats. Unfortunately, in my rush to get those gifts done, I never took any pictures.
Since then, I've really been focusing on all things baby. As my wife must contend with the "jungle gym uterus" as we call it, I feel the need to also keep busy. Apparently for pregnant women, "nesting" or preparing for the birth of a child by readying the home, baby clothes, bedding, etc., is a sign that she may be nearing labor. Well, I've been near labor for months now!
Attached are some images of other projects, but I still have some more. There are the dino overalls--the motif ended up smaller than I had hoped, but overall I love these! I've since made a matching had and socks, and I still have some yarn left over. I also made the baby hat from the most recent Knitty, but plain colors were too boring, so I added some colorwork.
In trying to slow the rush of baby items for our kid, already fast expanding out of our small condo, I've also made some things for other people's kids like a few pairs of these rainbow booties (Saartje's).
Finally, I've been keeping busy sewing. I made a couple pairs of overalls over the holiday break, and I went on a fabric store shopping spree last weekend egged on by a couple of my friends--needless to say, I'll be busy with "fabric arts" for a while. Here is the layout of the quilt I am making for baby. I know it's off subject, but I think it's also really fun.
Well, that's me for now. I'll try to wrangle together the rest of the knitted items around the house and take some more pictures soon.
