First Cabled project

OK, here it is, first time trying out the cable needle. and first time with non-synthetic yarn....I love both! Stitches are a little uneven, but I am only on row ten (out of 16) on round 2 so hopefully it will get better with the practice and maybe blocking will help in the end. I love this pattern....for me (have only done knits and purls so far) this is a bit of a challenge and if I am distracted I tend to cuss alot,'s worth it.

I think it looks great for your first piece of cable knitting. Is this going to be a scarf? Nice heathered yarn. The cables show up great in it.

Yup it is going to be a scarf...using Cascade 220 and I really like working with wool, it is so different than the acrylics I had used. If I get this done it is going to go to my Friend Patrick, he taught me to crochet this past year and then I taught myself how to knit. He wants to knit but is having trouble (has hand tremors) and so I thought as a thank you to him for getting me interested in the arts, I would make this for him.

That's sweet. Your friend will love it, I'm sure. And you couldn't have picked a better yarn. Cascade 220 is one of the best yarns (in my opinion) to work with. Nice range of colors and not very expensive for the yardage. Good luck with the scarf and keep us posted.

I think your cables are looking great. when you wash it and block it you'll see that alot of your stitches will shape right up. for a first attempt I think you're doing fantastic.

That looks wonderful. And the yarn so soft. Be sure to post it after you are done.

Welcome to wool addiction. Once you work with nicer fibers (and feel the wonderful fabric) it's hard to do anything with acrylic.

And cables are addictive themselves. They, too, were my first foray beyond the knit-and-purl-only type pieces. Once you get the hang of them, they aren't hard. And I'm always amazed at how much beauty can be created by just adjusting the sequence of a few stitches here and there.

The scarf is looking fantastic. Keep having fun with it!!!

Very cool, I will attempt it one day. But aren't natural fibers great to work with, I wouldn't have believed anyone who told me how different they were to work with but I tried going back to acrylic and hated it, terrible to work with. I too, cuss like a sailor while doing anything the least bit complex, I suspect it's a hallmark of men who knit.

I wish I were knitting now.
