Kippah pattern

Several months ago I posted pictures of a felted "kippah" or Jewish skull cap that I designed and knit. Because a member requested the pattern, I charted it and made it into an excel file. It's knit flat over 40 stitches, in garter stitch with short rows, using a provisional cast-on with the start and finish grafted together and with a border band in mosaic knitting. You could use any mosaic knitting pattern of your choice. I'm posting it for anyone who wants it.

That looks lovely. Is the body of the kippah knit with a single strand or two different colours?

I used a single heathery yarn, red flecked with black, that had two plies.
