Garter Stitch Shawl

V's picture

I finished this just in time. A friend of mine surprised me last Wednesday with some birthday cupcakes and I figured it was time I finished off this garter stitch shawl I've been making for her. I know the picture sucks. My camera ran out of battery so I had to use my phone.

I made this with one 8oz skein of the dk weight Brooks Farm yarn on size 9 needles.

I like this shawl and I love the colourway. Lucky friend. Do you know what the finished dimensions were, and is it top down or bottom up (if you will excuse the expressions)?

I have not measured it. I think it's about 28" from top to bottom tip. I knit this from the bottom up. I started with 3 sts and knitted until the yarn ran out.

Many thanks.

Mmm, the colors are intriguing. When my phone's not working I use my teakettle.

Beautiful. I've made a couple of these and they seem to take forever but the recepients love them.

I wish I were knitting now.

Great looking shawl, I bet your friend will wear it with great pride.

Have been knitting for years. I knit continually then will try another craft, but will return to the needles.
