It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Yes, dear men, it's May! Spring has sprung! Time to start working on Christmas!
One of my favourite parts of the season is creating and giving people stockings... Yet, I've never found a pattern that I'm totally happy with. It seems that it's either a grossly oversized sock pattern (which doesn't hang vertically worth a dang) or a over-simplified shape that doesn't look like much of anything. Has anyone found one that you really like that finds a happy medium? I'd be most appreciative.... Also, other than Red Heart (ich) a good worsted weight that has lots of bright colours, yet not terribly expensive ($8.95 for 25 stitches kills me, I'm a teacher, have no income!) As always, thanks for all of your BRILLIANT advice!

Caron's Simply Soft has quite a good selection of bright colours.

Knitpicks Wool of the Andes. . .

The christmas stockings I've done have all been felted and more or less knit by the seat of the pants.....

MMario - I'm not divorced from reality - we're having a trial separation

Cute stocking! Knit Picks Wool of the Andes has a few bright colors (one of each primary color as well as other shades of red and green for Christmas items). It's only $1.99US per 110yard skein and shipping is free for orders over $50. Also WEBS has Cascade 220 in lots of bright colors on sale for $4.89US per skein (that's 220 yards of good stuff), even at the normal $7US the price is right.

Christmas? Yikes! But I suppose it does make sense to get started---all in good time my pretty, all in good time....

I think I might steal your idea and make some Christmas Stockings for hubbie and The Dogs----Pattern recommendations? ---Jerry---
