California Here We Come!

Finally my last work shift is over and the boy and I are headed to San Francisco for a much needed rest for 17 days (eh vacation? can't rest much in SF). I'm taking my knitting and hope to get a lot done. I'm going to the $3 Bill Cafe on Monday at the GLBT Community Center to hook up with the group that knits there. Of course I will probably spend a lot o money at Imaginknit as it is only a few blocks from where we are staying in the Castro. I love that store. I am really nervous about taking knitting on needles on the plane but it is a long trip from here in FLorida to SF and I will go stark, raving mad without something to do on the plane.

The only unfortunate part is that I can not afford two California trips so close together ( ie Fall Knitting Retreat). If there is a midwest retreat let me know. THis year I am going to plan to attend the Retreat in NY in May. I am so excited that I found this website.

Visit Crafty Andy's Blog We should make a little group get together and have some coffee and knit in Public , I know the 3 Dollar Bill Cafe does it on Mondays where a knitting group meets, I have never been to the group myself.

The City by The Bay, the City of Brotherly Love, will welcome you with open arms. The City by The Bay can be very Cold in Summer be prepared, sometimes we have an average temp of 56 top 60 degrees. Microclimates, go out into the burbs just 20 miles away and it may be 90 degrees, farenheit that is lol!

Knitting needles and crochet hooks are specifically mentioned as allowed items on the TSA website, and I personally have never had any problems, but others have. Just in case, I recommend taking plastic or wooden needles and not your favorite irreplaceable pair. Also, it's not a bad idea to take some waste yarn you can transfer a project to in case an ignorant (over-cautious) TSA agent makes you surrender your needles.

Have a great trip! I'm planning a vacation in a few months and SF's on the possible list for me too!

I wish I could join you! I found my first knitting instructional book at Cliffs Hardware on Castro St when I was visiting a friend in SF in Feb 2004 (the beginning of my knitting odyssey). Have a great time, you MWK guys!
