Just Requested an Invation to Ravelry.

Well I just requested an invation to Ravelry. I have heard about it and one of my friends from lys just joined, and I see that several of the guys from here at MWK are on Ravelry, so I thought that I would give it a try. Although this site is my all time favorite and I feel very close to all that are here, I figure it is time to branch out a little. Just have to wait now for the invation to come ( ravelry said it should come in about four days from now).

I really need to get into that site more, I just really use it to post projects long after I have them up on here. The Flickr upload ability is why I love it. It does not have the great guys from here though, so I don't use it that much.

Good to hear your joining us on Ravelry. I have been a member since September and I really like it. There are lots patterns to choose from (pay, free). You can join any number of groups you wish to. There is also a newsletter with all kind of items in it. Enjoy and hope to see you there.

I've been in for about a year and still do not really understand it- it's like a big-box store, just too much crammed in there.

Veni, vidi, kniti.

Hi Barry,

It's fun - I mainly use it to look for patterns, but increasingly I've used it for yarn reviews, as well. In those ways it doesn't seem all that different from Knitty.com. For me it lacks the personal touch of this site. It seems a bit mysterious to me - I often meet knitters who spend a great deal of time there. I just can't figure out what they're doing!

Think less, enjoy it more.

I'm a big fan of Ravelry. I log all my projects there so I can track when they started and finished and what yarn and needles I used. I also put a lot of my stash into the database so I can track it too.

I participate a lot in various forums, including the Men Who Knit forum.

Like others have said, this group is a much more friendly, supportive and intimate group, which I enjoy.

Ravelry is a great research site, you can get info on patterns and yarn. I frequently use it to see what a particular color way will look like when knitted. There are forums on just about everything there. I like the ISO and destash forum as I have gotten some great bargains on yarn.

I'm relatively new to Ravelry too...still finding out some of the crazy things you can do on there.

I do love Ravelry.

...and wouldn't you know it, the companion MWK group is on there as well.

I'm on Ravelry too. Think it's a great portal with great functionality. But you know, it can't make up for the "community" spirit of MWK. This is always the site I visit first when logging on for the evening. You guys are all great, and it's a pleasure to know you all, even if only in a "virtual" sense.

Ravelry is defintely where I go to get info on a yarn or pattern and see what others have done with it, but I find I belong to few and participate in even fewer of it's groups. I post finished projects there, same as I do here, but I don't use it to keep track of my stash and needles. There's not much stash or needles to begin with and it's just on the other side of the room. Ravelry is great though. Don't get me wrong!

Ravelry is fun, but there's no place like home... menwhoknit is still the best place for a guy who knits to go and feel welcome...
