Christmas mail frustration

Since finishing a wonderfully chunky scarf last week, I've barely picked-up a pair of needles. Not because I need to take a break, but because the complete set of Knit Picks nickel DPNs haven't arrived from just about the only UK supplier.

I've heard lots of good things about these DPNs and if they are anywhere as good as the interchangeable circulars they should be great. Even though I've already got the circulars, I have a bit of a thing about being able to produce socks the traditional way. Kind of a link with knitters of previous generations.

Anyway, I so want to knit a pair of socks that I'm reluctant to make a start of the Adriafil llama/wool cardigan that's going to be the project after. The yarn for this looks absolutely terrific, an off-black, flecked with long strands of a lighter colour. I'll post about that later. In the meantime, I'm going to sit frustrated waiting for the post.

Isn't that sort of like cutting off your nose to spite your face?

Of course, I'm waiting for notice from the mill that my yarn is ready. Of the roughly 12# I'm expecting, 1/3 of it will be about a 50/50 blend from one of my alpacas (very dark chocolate brown) with a black Shetland fleece. The remainder will be from my light fawn alpaca girl, mother to the dark one. The Shetland blend is destined, in part, for a cardi, I'm thinking.

I, too, find dpn's so easy and fast for socks. Hope yours arrive soon.

Isn't the Royal Mail on strike today (Friday)?
