A birthday gift to you...

It's my birthday today and I'd like to offer a present to one of you....

(no, this isn't a thinly veiled attempt to get birthday wishes from you all).

I was a member of "The Unique Sheep" "Ram's Club" -- a men's sock-yarn club that just finished it's first run. Anyhow, I've really enjoyed the yarns and thought you might too, so... I offering a hank of one of them to one of you as a sort-of reverse birthday present.

The one I'm offering is called "Crisp Evening" - it's Superwash Merino, Sport weight, Permanently Mothproofed. The great thing is that these are "men's sized" hanks -- it's 180 grams... approx 530 yards!

Here's the deal. PM or Email (teejtc [at] gmail [dot] com) me your name if you're interested by midnight tonight (January 23rd).

I'll find some random and entirely unbiased way of picking the "winner."

Grace and peace,

What can you tell us about the "Ram's Club" I checked the webpage for the unique sheep, but didn't find any mention of it. They've got a great web page and the idea of calling a men's club the "Ram's Club" is way clever, but what did it entail?

Here you go....

There's also a group on Ravelry, just search for "Ram's Club"

Basically, it's a subscription service for "Men's" sock yarns. Each package also comes with some kind of little surprise.

I loved it, but haven't had enough time to really make it worth doing the club a second time right now; maybe in the future though. It's a bit pricey for my pocketbook too, but - like I said - I enjoyed getting the packages and liked the yarns.

My partner has always said he thought the birthday tradition should be that you gave gifts on your birthday instead of receiving them. That way, you'd get gifts all year round and the folks that hate having a Christmas birthday or a summer birthday where they get nothing but short sleeved shirts, would be able to have a more rounded seasonal birthday.

Beautiful yarn you're giving for your birthday Tim...Unique Sheep have become one of the promoters of the Men's Knitting Retreats as well.

Thanks to each of you who entered! I put you in a list and picked a number through a random number picker.

The winner is: TheImpossiblePrincess

I'm not certain the color is particularly nun-ish... but then... maybe for that kind of nun :-)

For those who asked, it was a pleasant birthday. I may have finally gotten high-speed internet (we live in a dead zone and have been unable to get anything to work in the past), I knit a few rows on a BSJ for friends who are expecting, and went to Underworld III - which I didn't know was a prequel, but enjoyed nonethetless! And, enjoyably, spent most of the day with my wife and daughter.

Thanks for the opportunity for some fun...

Beautiful way to celebrate Tim.....
Thanks for bringing this to the group. Glad that you had a great day.
btw I recall that many of us were concerned for your daughter's health a month or two back. Can you tell us anything about how she is doing now? - Phil

Thanks for asking... Sophia is doing pretty well. Unfortunately we don't know much more now than we did before. We had a meeting with a pediatric endocrinologist on Thursday, but he didn't tell us much new. He did order a bunch of tests again, so we're back on the waiting game.

It's looking more and more likely that we might actually end up with a diagnosis but that it'll be something that cannot actually be treated.

Grace and Peace,
