Piano Scarf!

Ok...So I'm way way excited about this one. The first project I make for myself in a long time, and I chose to make....drumroll...a PIANO SCARF. I guess the pianist in me is coming out big time with this one. I can't wait until I'm finished and I can practice on it :-) Currently I'm just past the first octave, and on D2... I do enjoy double knitting quite a lot. I use continental for both yarns, one passing over my index finger and one passing over my middle finger. I also have a picture of the back attached.

In other news, I also have a scarf I finished yesterday...It's my Noro Scarf Inspired Scarf. (It's the second attached photo). It's made with one solid and one variegated colorway yarn...much cheaper than Noro...I also used K2P2 ribbing instead of K1P1.

Good job, especially on the piano scarf so far. Did you come up with the pattern yourself? If so, Brilliant! If not, still a darn good project.

So the white front is for when its cold or you want to practice piano ... the back is for when you want to practise harpsichord? :)

How do you find the time to knit between study, practise and working out? My knitting is sadly second bottom on my priority list, my viola is on the bottom of the list. I was chastised yesterday by the leader of the Istanbul Symphony yesterday... I teach her daughter, I taught her son last year... she asked me how much practised I was doing... and then she didn't like the reply...

The idea of the scarf is not original, I saw some online and thought it'd be a cool idea. However, I didn't like the gauge required for any of the charts I found online, so I did some improvising on my own to get a piano with the right proportions, in a size that wouldn't take me years to knit. I don't have an actual chart, but if anyone is interested I could send them the number of stitches I used for each area.

Dave, I don't knit as much as I'd like to, but my secret is that I knit at any time I get a chance...usually at inappropriate times as well. I will knit an easy project in class and take notes at the same time, or I'll take knitting on the bus with me, or knit at work when I get a free moment. Things like practicing and working out, I have to schedule a specific time for each day, or they don't get done.

Yes!!!!!!!! I really like it. I do the same thing with shirts I see in shops that custom make them, and then go buy fabric and make them. I will post a pic of one in my next blog. I really like the piano scarf though, what neat idea.

Love the piano scarf! Great job. I tinkered with double-knit a while back and enjoyed it, but haven't completed a project using it yet. I think I know what's next for me. Would you mind sharing your stitch counts?

For those who are interested... The scarf is made on size 7 needles with Caron Simply Soft Black and White.
I'm going to make a new blog post with an attached Word file with the pattern, and an attached Excel file with the chart. Y'all let me know if you have any problems downloading them.

That scarf brought back such memories! I had one back in the mid-80s that I got from a punk clothing company in Washington DC called Commander Salamander. Back in my black clothes, eyeliner days. That's what a Baptist college will do to ya!

Pix or it didn't happen! I don't mean the scarf either.
