Great Day for a MWK

I had the day off yesterday from work yesterday. I first went to my local Starbuck's and saw a man sitting working on a scarf and chatting with a friend. I thought to myself, "Wow, that is so cool."

I then walked to my favorite knitting store, "Imagiknit" and took a class on making a Baby Surprise Jacket (BSJ) by my favorite teacher--Kurt. I took this class after reading about BSJ's here on MWK. It was a great class and I think I can get it cranked out before the baby is due.

I then went to Cafe Trieste where I met some MWK regulars: Crafty Andy, Bill, Stan and Tom. It was a great treat to meet other men who knit and to be able to share and learn from each other.

I then went home and worked like a madman on my afghan. I am hoping to finish by the end of this week. It certainly was a great day for this man who knits.

I wish I lived in a city where I could just see another guy There are certainly a couple, and a year and a half ago, when I was on the exec board for our GLBT student organization, we held a meeting where we taught some to knit... However, I have yet to see another guy knitting in town.

Hey!!! I agree with Thomas, it would be so nice to walk into a coffee house and meet up with fellow "men who knit". Bear hands, I am very envious of your day and yes please lets see some afghan pic's

I do that at "Starbears" everytime I'm in SF. I've actually sat next to a cute Asian fellow who I think works at Imagiknits...he was working on some lace, I think. Two knitters in Starbears. Great fun.

Was that you yesterday Bob? I was at Starbears when I saw the man knitting. I think I know who you are talking about regarding the young man from Imagiknit, but I have never met him. Kurt is the one who used to sport a large red afro--now he has completely shaved his head.

I noticed there is no way to search for other MWK members by state or location. I wish the sit master would put that in. It would be a great way to connect

You can click on the "members" link up at the top and then click on "location" to sort members by city (or state). You then have to click through to find people who live either in your city or your state, depending on how they entered the information. It's the best way I've figured out to do that. Good luck!
