Cat Hat

A friend of mine at work just had a baby. I remembered the Cat Hat that OtterTO posted a while back and thought it would make the perfect gift. OtterTO was kind enough to share the pattern with me (Thanks Chris!). I assume it will need lots of washing, so I used acrylic yarn and US 6 (4 mm) double pointed needles. Embroidering the eyes, mouth, and whiskers was a pain in the butt, but overall I'm happy with how it turned out. Hopefully there is a second picture under attachments.

That is such a cute hat and the knitting is perrrrrrfect lol, seriously, nice job. Otter is a great guy, I had the priviledge of meeting and having coffee with him a couple of weeks ago.

Very cute!!!

Have been knitting for years. I knit continually then will try another craft, but will return to the needles.

Wonderful job...whenever I see embroidery as part of a knitting pattern, I shy away as I've never tried it before and it seems somewhat daunting. Yours looks great.

That really is super cute. What a great gift for kids. Is there any way to purchase the pattern?

I believe Chris said he got the pattern from a library book that he can't remember the title of. I tried to google it, but didn't have any luck. Send me a private message with your email address and I'll send you a copy.

Wonderful hat. I may have to borrow the idea to make one for my newest great-grandniece. I have a toy cat pattern that I've used, making a thick braid for the tail. Maybe I can adapt that for the tail on the cap. Of course, that's providing I get her afghan finished, along with washing and reblocking the Shetland style shawl she is receiving. After all, July is rapidly catching up with me. (So many projects...So little time.) -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
