Blog Entry the First

I guess I should start by introducing myself.  My name is Wil, I'm a 20 year old student in Portland Oregon.  I attend Reed College and am a Psychology Major.

I started knitting almost three years ago.  The woman who was doing the costume design for the High School musical put the first needles in my hands.  I progressed slowly (as most do) and quickly gave it up when I came to college.  There, my HA (Housing Advisor, similar to RA) taught me how to crochet.  I found it easy and fun to get into, but it quickly got boring (there is only so much you can do).  So I came back to knitting, and with my experience crocheting, I was able to knit continental, thank god.

I've knit a few hats, several Penguins, and a skirt for my sister.  Right now I am knitting one of the penguins for my housemate and should be done soon.

Wow... another Oregonian joins MWK. There sure are alot of you knitting guys out there. Smile

Hey, Wil . .

Welcome to MWK!  You will find a great bunch of guys here that are willing to share info and ideas, but most of all, just fun to chat with, and have other male knitting friends.

ps, to Gryph ..there must be a recruiting campaign in Oregon . . hehehe . . where are the east coast guys??

Hey Wil, Welcome aboard.  Great projects you've chosen.  Consider the clog-a-thon starting tomorrow.  They are a great felting project and a fun and quick project.

Welcome aboard, and thanks for the link to the penguin pattern!  I've been looking for something new and I think I'm going to give it a try (dishrags are getting old).  I think we'd all like to see some photos of your finished work.

Thursday nights at Mabel's (SE Division and 30th) is Mens Knit Night at 7pm.  Unfortunately we don't really have very good attendance, last week was the first time I've seen anyone else but me there.

I've never been to Close Knit, does it have a cafe?  That's what I love about Mabel's, plus its close by.

Welcome to the site. We look forward to you sharing on here.
