My take would be, good for our health and good for others' health as well. Knitting keeps me a little more even and tamed than might otherwise be the case :-)

Thanks for sharing that with us. Quite a nice expose there, actually.

I can't help but feel my mind slipping into the gutter about the health benefits of a rhythmic and repetitive act... why is is that knitting is not exactly the first thing that comes to mind?... lol!

It is true though that activities of this type are great for stress relief. I think that's why people gravitate towards them. When I took piano lessons as a kid, I hated doing scales (mostly because I was told I had to do them)...even though I found it relaxing. I think worry beads were created because people some time long in the past realized this. Actually now that I think of it, maybe rosaries/prayers/chanting have the same effect on the human mind. I used to carry a rosary around in my pocket (again because I was told I had to)...but it was somewhat consoling.

One last thing I have to say is that drinking red wine is supposed to be good for one's health, but from personal experience I'd caution against mixing too much of a good thing with too much of another...the results can be horrible - both for participants and bystanders.

:-)
