Sock Forms - Looking for measurements

I've been searching around on the Internet for some measurements on sock forms--the old-fashioned wooden ones with holes in them.

I have all the tools to make my own but I don't know the measurements for the different sizes.

Can anyone point me in an enlightening direction?

Your post prompted me to google for sock form templates, and a lot of folks are using old linoleum tiles, plastic placemats and of course, wood to make their sock blockers at home.

Many of them were just making them the approximate size they needed for their socks, without saying how they sized them.

One knitter, noted that she used a new commercial sock as her template for different sizes. She just pinned the flattened, already blocked sock to the plastic she was going to make the form from, and traced around it.

Seemed like a great idea to me.

I've used a wire hanger before. Just beat the hell out of Christina with it and then reshape it into a sock shape and put your sock in it. won't get exact measure ments but it does work.

I have about 20 sock forms made from coat hangers as described by Kenny. They are similar to the ones that could be bought years ago when most socks were made from wool. I slip the socks on and then hang them on the line.

Oooh, I like that idea. Use commercial socks to get the approximate size. Okay. Yeh.

Oh ... I think I made a mistake then... I just washed my socks and lay them flat on my balcony for a few days... they seem alright ... they are traveling with me ... currently in Malaysia, destined to be left behind in Australia with my dad as the recipient... he needs warm feet if he intends to play lots of golf during the winter there.

Blocking socks... I got no idea on how to do it... I'll try the coathanger method next time. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Washing and drying smoothed out flat *is* the simplest form of blocking.

That's what I do too... no hangers.. no nutin'.. As a matter of fact, I have a few pair that lazily go in the dryer and everything without problems....
