Hit me baby one more time.

Well, Well, Well... Now that the Sock Summit has come and gone and I am down from my high after consuming all that sock porn, I thought about this blog and how I haven't been writing like I promised myself I would. So here I am. The Sock Summit Marketplace was super fantabulous, thanks for asking. I spent hours wandering thru all the booths looking for the unusual and hard to find. I have to say that I only bought a few things, but I lusted for many more.
I found this beautiful skein of Kauni that is orange, red, purple, green, yellow, and blue. Rainbow flag? I think so. HMMMM. :) That will be turned into some mitered squares as fast as I can knit them. I had to buy that, and I found some pretty locks that I had to buy for needle felting projects.

However there were some things that I just have to share, and here they are:

#1. http://www.signatureneedlearts.com (These needles are ridiculously priced, but OMG. I got to play with them and man, if I had the money I would buy all the dpn needles they have and give them to everyone.)
#2. http://peanutga11ery1.etsy.com (stich markers that will make you so happy)
#3. http://www.holidayyarns.com (the coolest sock patterns on the planet, sock patterns that make Cat Bordhi patterns look like Knitting Pure and Simple, both of which I adore.)
#4. http://skeindalous.etsy.com (I love this women. Buy her yarn. This is a person that the yarn world needs to keep. She was so awesome and sweet and funny with some amazing colorways with some very unique colorway names. If you haven't heard of her, don't walk... RUN! out and buy some of her yarn. My favorites are the Gene Simmons, I'm with the Band and Alice Cooper colorways.)
#5. http://www.lanternmoon.com (Que bella!)
#6. http://thenakedsheepknitshop.com (the most wonderful place in the world after Disneyland and the North Pole.)

http://www.socksummit.com/vendors (here is a list of all the vendors and those that have websites.)

As far as projects go, I am working on Mitered Squares right now because I can't commit to something bigger. I am getting ready to teach my fall classes (teachstreet.com if you are interested in a class.), and I am still working on my Snuggs. I will finish them, but not yet. I also might start a Ten Stich Blanket, just so I always have something in Noro going.

I wandered through the Marketplace at Sock Summit as well. There was so much wonderful stuff there, I didn't know where to start! Thanks for sharing some of your favorites.

So, are the signature needles really worth that much money?

First some facts about me...

I like metal needles.
I like sharp needles.
I don't like using small metal dpn needles because my stitches tend to fall off since they are so slick.
When I picked up those Signature needles and knit a row on a sock using very fingering weight yarn, I instantly wanted to knit a whole sock with super thin yarn. I loved them, but at the same time, I can't afford them. If I could, I would buy them all. The shafts are a little rough so your stitches don't slide unless you want them to and the tips are sharp and slick so you can knit very fast.

I keep hearing great things about these needles...customized points, variety of lengths, gorgeous colors...big price. Still, it never hurts to daydream. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Thanks for all the info some of us poor brothers north of the border don't get to see these shows. Having said that the LYS I work in is sponsering Kaffe Facett at the Fall Creative Needlework show here in Toronto this fall and I am working it so I will get to meet the man in person with a bit of luck. Maybe I will offer to give him and his partner a tour of the "Village" while he is here, fat chance he will accept but nothing ventured nothing gained lol.
