When Knitters Become Tour Guides

I knew I was going to have a night in Istanbul on my way home to St. Louis from Beirut. I thought I would contact Dave and ask for some recommendations for places to go. But Dave went further, he took the evening and spent it with my friend and I, showing us some of the amazing sights of his great city. I'm so grateful! Thanks, Dave. Yet another benefit of this website!

P.S. My cello still hasn't made it back. If you should see it in Istanbul, please point it in the direction of St. Louis. = /

Great. I'm sure you had the best way to see the sights. That's one of the many great things about our community here. Hope your cello makes it back pronto!

Glad you had a great time. Dave is a great person, based on what I know. That is one of the fun things about this community, we can always find contacts and/or LYS information just by typing in a few words. Hope your cello got home okay. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Our boys in Istanbul are the best. Last year when we were there, RickeScott did a wonderful yarn crawl -- taking me to many shops I *never* would have found on my own! Great city.

That's great!! I was hoping to do the same when ksmarguy and vsidart came through Denver a while back. I'm sad to say I wasn't able to hook with them... I'm a bad host. :-(

No you're not, Frank. The timing didn't work out, that's all. You had good intentions, so give yourself credit. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Aren't these guys the BEST? Awhile back I decided it was time to dump some activities that were taking up time and/or that I hadn't had time for. This group, although I didn't have alot of time to come here and keep up with everything, I could have never given up.

James it was a pleasure taking you guys to my favourite eating places. I just wish we had more time. There are lots of things to do here, historic, things in the Arts, or just simple pleasures. Maybe next year you can plan a longer stopover.
I'm on a work computer and the screen is missing half the text box. So am touch typing ... scary.
Will go for a quick walk around the Grand Bazaar to see who is hawking your cello .... only kidding ... get on to Turkish Airlines ... really hound them until they start chasing it up seriously.
