Young boy knitting in "Independent People"

Matt is reading "Independent People" by Icelandic Nobel Laureate Halldor Laxness - something that interested him as we were driving around Iceland a few weeks ago. He just mentioned that one of the characters, a little boy, is sitting with his grandmother, talking and knitting. I googled it and sure enough, it's listed here and here. Learn something new everyday!! I learned something today... what "they" say about matching dye lot numbers, well it's so true!! I discovered it big time today for real. I brought a skein of Paton's Classic Wool "Chestnut Brown" home today to finish up a project and lo and behold - it sure as all get out doesn't match the 5 skeins I bought four or five years ago!! Dammit!

Allow me to commiserate re your dylot disaster- I just spent three days knitting three inches of 1x1 twisted ribbing with sport weight yarn on size three needles, only to suddenly realize that I had been knitting a mobius. ***SIGH***. This has never happend to me before (yeah, I know, all guys say that).

Went to the library today and borrowed the book. The first couple of chapters have really gripped me.
