Poodles!

Dudes! Check this out. A fellow teacher, Linda, knit this FAB bottle cover. She is my favourite sub and the progenitor of Knit Club. Of course, having four Standard Poodles, this really fits into our house.
I'm actually afraid to use it with an open bottle of wine.

How cute! Is there a pattern available?

It's in a book that she has. I'm not sure of the title.

Oh, that's a bottle of wine. I wasn't sure at first. Unsure, but intrigued all the same.

Very cute!

This is spectacular...she would be my favorite sub too...as long as you mean substitute teacher. ;)

It's comments such as these that make my love you best.

So am I, for different reasons.

I sorta remember the sixties. Wasn't there a lot of crocheted toilet paper covers?

How about this:

I am sure your friend, Linda, is a charming women, creative and very talented. However, I must be honest and respectful. When I saw the poodle bottle cover, I cringed.

This is an example of what prevented me from knitting as a teenager, and frankly, kept me safe from most textile work for decades. I was convinced - wrongly, oh so very wrongly - that knitted chachkas, lares and penates, dust catchers and object d'art were the entire realm of knitting.

After years of desensitization, group therapy, meditation and primal screaming...the small setback caused by the pink poodle bottle cover will be quickly extinguished by Jack and Coke and anti-depressants...my cocktail of choice.

Thanks for the memory trip!

Actually, there is a really nice bottle of red under all that pink, Ex Umbras from Owen Roe.

I'm in with the crowd how loves the memories. My granmother had these all over her house; consequently, my mother had a couple. I loved these when I was a kid, and still think thiey're cute in the right place; just not my house.

I just realized that that might say more of her drinking than anything else; I do recall whisky.

Here it is! For free!
My mother is SO getting one for Christmas... in the ugliest plastic yarn I can find!
With a good bottle of wine, of course...

Okay, even scarier is that I found the instructions for its matching toilet paper cover! http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/knitting/msg0714312627915.html
Scroll down too the bottom for instructions to crochet and knit.
