Celebrate with me :-)

teejtc's picture

I picked up some Alpaca roving the other day during the Men's Midwest Knitting Retreat and our visit to Circle R Ranch. It was my first time spinning Alpaca - loved it.

Anyhow... my first alpaca and my first attempt at plying... It isn't a terrible lot of yarn, but I'm really happy with it! I had to celebrate with someone who knew what they're looking at.

I love alpaca! Great job! Some day I will learn to spin. Hopefully soon.

*grin* hard to believe that yarn is a "first" .....that appears to be the type of handspun that people (who don't know any better) look at and say "Oh - that can't be handspun it's too even!"

MMario - I'm not divorced from reality - we're having a trial separation

I have to agree with MMario...that is exceptionally beautiful spinning, and the color of the natural brown alpaca is incredibly rich.

Wow!! Which spindle did you use?? That is absolutely beautiful!

So the retreat wasn't a total drunken debauch for you??? (kidding, really...

Actually, this was done on a wheel (Kromski Minstrel)...

As for the drunken debauch... y'all pushed that off to the evening after I left... oh well.....

Tim,
That's beautiful even spinning!
I love alpaca to knit with...but I'm not a spinner yet...
...and the photo is handsome, against the black and white squares!

That's beautiful looking yarn Tim, well done. I love the softness of alpaca, and the natural shades look great.

Fantastic spinning and plying, Tim. I keep hearing great things about Kromski wheels. However, I spin so seldom it wouldn't be worth my while to invest in one. That ought to knit up gorgeously. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
