A Study in Freeform

So i have been quite in love with a new project that seems to be an ongoing lifetime work. I began a freeform scarf and then made it larger and it will probably end up to be a wall hanging of sorts for an art opening. Its fun to match the colors and fibers, mixing the size of needles and....yes i dare say...crochet hooks. yikes. its scary to venture back into the horror that is crocheting. Althoouuugh i do enjoy it more when i dont have a pattern and i can do whatever i want. maybe i will post a photo of it soon.....we shall see. until then i will remain figuring out the randomness that looks like a landscape relief map and make mad my time and energy....
Anyone have any experiences with freeform????

Red Scarf Project

I was wondering if any of you have ever knitted for, or know anything about the Red Scarf Project conducted through the Orphan Foundation of America (www.orphan.org). They solicit hand-knitted scarves (in the month of January) in shades of red to give to 18-23 year olds who were formerly in foster care, and now are trying to go to college without the benefit of a family for support. Interweave Knits is one of the co-sponsors, and the foundation is listed with the Better Business Bureau, so I assume they are a fine organization. I thought, perhaps, some of you might have personal experience with this project and could share more information with me.
