Lace shawl

My mom once told me about seeing a very fine lace shawl, so lightweight that the sales lady was able to draw it through one of her rings.  Has anyone made something like this?  Do you know of any good patterns?  I was thinking it would make a nice birthday gift.

My new love

Hey guys,

My fabulous boyfriend woke up at 3am last week & bid on some tortoise shell needles for me. They arrived today & I love them so much. I love the texture, look & feel of them. The sleeve I was knitting needed slightly larger needles & I instantly transferred to the new needles. He got 37 of them, yeah an odd #. Whatever,They are the best! Have any of you tried these needles? They came from Australia.

knit a river

This is a gentle request.

Can any of you lovely gentlemen help with any promotion for the knit a river campaign?

I've done a lot of promotion in and the take up has been fantastic with knitters offering to help by taking posters to their local yarn stores or knitting groups.

Do any menwhoknit think they might also be able to do anything like this? If so let me know. I'd be extremely grateful. There is a poster available, pdf and hard copy.

Thanks a million, happy knitting.

A sphere

I *think* this belongs in this forum (let me know if I'm way off).

I'm looking for a pattern, or a formula, or even a basic principle that wil enable me to knit, or at least figure out how, to knit a sphere.

Ok I think I have found one internet difference between "most" male knitters (no offense to our non-gay brothers) and "most" female is that our "Favorites" list looks something like...Brooklyntweed,Big Muscle,Bitter Purl,Big Muscle Bears,DancesWithWool,KnittingGarden,& The Daily Drool....ya think????

Just noticed and thought I would share....Have a great Fathers Day Daddies!!!

Expensive yarn at no cost to me

Saturday I accompanied a friend to the Estes Park Wool Market, an annual event in Estes Park, Colorado. She mostly went to pet the animals, but I was excited to see what yarn they would have on offer. (With apologies to those of you who raise them, I think sheep are disgusting, goats slightly more tolerable and alpacas adorable, though I still don't want to touch them.)

At a stall operated by Interlacements of Colorado Springs my friend spotted a knitted-up sample of the Squirrel Monkey Sweater:
